Research Talk on healthcare management - Sustainability Governance Lab

The Sustainability Governance Lab of the LOOP Research Center, with the support of the Fondazione Scuola Sanità Pubblica (Public Health School Foundation), is organizing a Research Talk entitled “Green Management in Healthcare: actors, practices, measures,” which will be held on Friday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Marta Campus of the University of Verona, home of the Research Center.
Healthcare organizations have a significant carbon footprint, characterized mainly by high energy consumption and large amounts of waste production. Health Care Without Harm estimates that global emissions from the sector will triple by 2050 if no action is taken. European countries contribute significantly, accounting for 17% of the total footprint of the healthcare sector.
Both academia and institutions, such as the Pan-European Commission for Health and Sustainable Development, have called for greater environmental responsibility on the part of healthcare companies. In this scenario, healthcare managers have a crucial role to play in leading the transition. The post-pandemic restart offers a unique opportunity to rethink and make the healthcare system more resilient. In this regard, scientific literature shows that organizations led by leaders who support sustainability achieve better results.
This research talk aims to raise awareness among participants about the carbon footprint of the healthcare sector and the urgency of an ecological transition. It also aims to share knowledge and experiences on sustainability management in healthcare, highlighting the key role of managers in driving change and presenting practices, tools, and indicators for implementing and monitoring the results achieved.
Registration is free and open to all at the following link.
The event program will be shared shortly on this page.
