Success of LOOP Research Center's first Workshop: an important step toward innovation and circularity

On November 15, 2024, the University of Verona's Santa Marta Campus hosted the first workshop of the LOOP Research Center, officially presenting its activities. The event, held at the Department of Management, was an opportunity to introduce itself to companies and propose collaborations in the Center's areas of expertise, namely the three LABs.
With more than 120 registrants and a rich program of interactions that stimulated reflections and ideas for future research, the event is to be considered the first step in triggering fruitful scientific collaborations with companies and entities to create together best practices for the revision of business processes and strategies.
The LOOP Research Center was created to support companies in the Veneto region in their transition to the circular economy and sustainability, issues of great relevance to the region.
A Research Center at the Service of Businesses and the Territory
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about the projects of the center's three laboratories, which shared active research activities and future plans. The presentations also included testimonials from companies that have already collaborated with LOOP, helping to improve their business practices through applied research.
Collaborations with the Private Sector: Successful Experiences
Among the highlights, local companies recounted their experiences of collaborating with LOOP. Innovative business projects collaborations with LABS that highlight the crucial role of businesses in the transition to a circular economy were presented during the Workshop.
Coca-Cola HBC Italy introduced a project focused on the role and activities of logistics service providers, emphasizing the importance of a sustainable supply chain to accelerate the adoption of circular practices. This approach is a concrete example of how collaboration throughout the supply chain can generate a positive impact on the environment and society.
Hassel Omnichannel and WeAre, on the other hand, illustrated an innovative digital platform that enables companies to integrate circular practices into their strategies. The platform fosters collaboration between actors from different sectors, promoting synergies that reinforce a path toward the circular economy.
Finally, the Cereal Docks Group shared its experience in integrating sustainability within corporate governance and daily operations. The strategies adopted by the group represent an inspiring model for all companies that intend to combine operational efficiency and sustainability governance.
These interventions confirm the strategic role of innovation and collaboration with scientific research to build a more sustainable future, in which the circular economy becomes a sustainable paradigm for all productive sectors.
LOOP RESEARCH CENTER: A Bridge between Research and Business
The Center's Director, Prof. Ivan Russo, stressed the importance of making LOOP a point of reference first nationally and then internationally for research in the circular economy and sustainability, creating a stable and identifiable interface between academia, businesses and territorial entities.
